Built to increase public safety for trailers and box trucks. In compliance with the Lateral Protective Devices Specifications (NMX-D-318-IMNC-2017).
Lateral Protective Devices (LPD) are safety devices that prevent road users from falling under the exposed space along the side of a trailer with high ground clearance. The devices provides a shield between a road user and a trailer’s rear wheels, thus lowering the chance for serious injury, particularly during side impact crashes.
TRANSTEX conducted testing on its Edge Lateral Protective Devices to ensure compliance with the requirements outlined in the Mexican Standard NMX-D-318-IMNC-2017, specifically addressing the Lateral Protective Devices (LPD) requirements. One of the key requirements is that the LPD must be capable of withstanding a force of 1 kN (approximately 225 lbs) or more without deforming inward by more than 150mm (equivalent to 5.9 inches) along its entire length. Additionally, it should not deform by more than 30mm (approximately 1.2 inches) along the last 250mm (about 9.8 inches) from the rear end of the devices.
TRANSTEX is pleased to certify that its EDGE Lateral Protective Devices, when installed in accordance with the TRANSTEX Installation Manual for LPD Skirts, adhere to the requirements specified in the Mexican Standard NMX-D- 318-IMNC-2017, as established by the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification.
These TRANSTEX EDGE LPDs not only meet the strength and deformation criteria but also adhere to the positioning specifications outlined in the standard, which are crucial for safeguarding vulnerable road users.
